PROF. OREMOSU IS THE PROVOST-ELECT OF COLLEGE OF MEDICINE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS.

A significant milestone was marked in the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL), on the 28th November 2024 with the election of Professor Ademola Ayodele Oremosu, FAMedS, FNAMed, FNSN, FASN as the Provost-elect of the College.

In a decisive victory, Professor Oremosu, an alumnus of the MBBS Class of 1988, quondam University of Lagos Orator and a professor in the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, became the first Provost from his faculty that is from the department of Anatomy.

This victory highlights a progressive shift in leadership dynamics in CMUL.

The election, conducted with transparency and commendable camaraderie between candidates, saw a turnout of 77% of eligible voters from the faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences and Dental Sciences. The Acting Registrar, Mrs Olakunle Esther Makinde swiftly announced the results, solidifying Professor Oremosu’s place in CMUL history.

We congratulate him and express gratitude to his opponent, Professor Edamisan Olusoji Temiye of the Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Clinical Sciences for his contributions to the progress of the College.

OREMOSU , Ademola Ayodele is a Professor of Human Anatomy in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences of the University of Lagos. He holds MB;BS and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He was the Director, Medilag Consult (2019 – 2023). Former Head of the Department of Anatomy, College of Medicine, University of Lagos.

His current research interest is on Neuroinflammation of the Brain. He has successfully supervised 9 Ph.Ds.   He has won several grants and awards and has served on some committees of the NUC.

He has over 90 publications in learned national and foreign journals. He is the current chairman of the education committee of the International Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Society African Section.

He is widely travelled.

He is a Fellow of the Anatomical Society of Nigeria, Fellow of the Neuroscience Society of Nigeria, Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Medicine and Fellow, Academy of Medicine Specialities of Nigeria.

 

He is happily married to Dr (Mrs)  Omotayo Adebola Oremosu, an  Associate Professor department of Restorative Dentistry College of Medicine University of Lagos and a consultant prosthodontist to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba, Lagos State. The marriage is blessed with a daughter.
