GMLD LAGOS PAY ADVOCACY VISIT TO LSACA
The visit of the members of the Guild of Medical Laboratory Directors (GMLD) Lagos State to the Lagos State Aids Control Agency (LSACA) is the continuation of the Association’s advocacy visit to government agencies and parastatals with a view to seeking for collaboration and cooperation. The meeting was held at the LSACA office in General Hospital Lagos Island on the 8th October 2024.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Dr Folakemi Animashaun was on the ground to receive the GMLD Lagos team. She welcomed the members of GMLD to LSACA, an agency saddled with the mandate to reduce new HIV and AIDS infections and to alleviate its effects on those infected and affected in Lagos State.
The GMLD Lagos State Chairman, Adekoya Abimbola Julius thanked the LSACA CEO for the opportunity to be in their office. He expressed his concerns that no organization should talk about HIV without considering the Medical Laboratory Directors in the state because of the role they play. He went further to inform the CEO and her team that GMLD was willing to work with the agency in the areas of testing, data collection, capacity building and awareness creation among our members. He added that LSACA should ensure that all kits must pass through the revalidation center of MLSCN in Yaba to avoid discrepancy in the results generated.
Dr Animashaun in her response appreciated the GMLD team and promised to work closely with the members. She immediately instructed her team members to make that GMLD Lagos is included in the activities of the agency. She warned that no Laboratory results should be released without adhering to the ethics and the laws of the state on HIV.
The team of LSACA included Femi Agbesanwa, Director of Administration, Michael Essien, Deputy Director Project, Okonji Oluyemisi Deputy Director Statistics, Jokosanye Adeniyi Internal Auditor, Coker Oluwaseun, Olanrewaju Mariam, Awujoola Remilekun, Oyedotun-Shokoya Adenike, Akinyemi Ayodele, Ugwuozor Austine and Olokodana Idris.
The GMLD members led by the Chairman at the event were Maduka Bethel, GMLD Auditor, Ojo Adedayo- Treasurer GMLD, Owolabi Olaide and Osuntade Kehinde.
