GMLD Lagos Pays Courtesy Visit to CEO of M.D. Schools, Mrs Omolara Adedugbe

In furtherance of preparations for the forthcoming Lagos State Conference of the Guild of Medical Laboratory Directors (GMLD), Lagos Branch, members of the state executive council paid a courtesy visit to a renowned Medical Laboratory Scientist and educationist, Mrs Omolara Adedugbe, on Wednesday, 21 January 2026.

Mrs Adedugbe is the Founder, Proprietor, and Chief Executive Officer of M.D. Schools , an educational institution with branches located in New Oko-Oba, Omole, and Agidingbi, Lagos. Established in 1986, the school has earned recognition for its strong commitment to special and inclusive education, contributing significantly to educational development in Lagos State.

During the visit, Mrs Adedugbe revealed a less-known aspect of her professional journey. She is a trained Medical Laboratory Scientist who spent thirteen years working on the bench in the College of Medicine, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. She recalled that the late Registrar of the Council, Lady Elizabeth Okonkwo, was her set mate while she graduated from the School of Medical Laboratory Science, University College Hospital Ibadan in 1978 with her classmate Mr Anifowose Tunde Tairu, the Director of Anifo-Medik International , a testimony to her deep roots in the medical laboratory profession. Despite her transition into the education sector, she emphasized that her passion and commitment to Medical Laboratory Science remain unwavering.

The GMLD Lagos delegation was led by the Chairman, Mr Adekoya Abimbola Julius, and included the Vice Chairman, Mrs Doris Mark Chinelo Callistus; the Assistant Secretary General, Pastor Ikechukwu Unamba; and the Special Adviser to the National President on Logistics, Mr Vincent Iwunze. The team commended Mrs Adedugbe for her outstanding contributions to both healthcare and education, describing her career as a model of professionalism, service, and leadership.

In her response, Mrs Adedugbe warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the visit. She encouraged members of the Guild to remain steadfast in upholding professional standards and to continue contributing meaningfully to national development through quality laboratory services.

The highlight of the visit was the decoration of Mrs Omolara Adedugbe with a Meritorious Award, alongside her formal installation as a Patroness of the Guild of Medical Laboratory Directors (GMLD), Lagos Branch . The honour was in recognition of her enduring contributions to Medical Laboratory Science and her exemplary leadership in the education sector.

The courtesy visit further underscored GMLD Lagos’ commitment to engaging distinguished professionals whose careers reflect excellence, integrity, and service, as the Guild prepares for its forthcoming state conference.
