From MLS to PhD: Izobo’s Inspiring Journey
A distinguished medical laboratory scientist, administrator, and educationist, Dr. (Mrs) Oyeronke Suebat Izobo, has added another feather to her cap following the successful defence of her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) thesis at the South Western University of Nigeria, Okunowa, along the Sagamu-Benin Expressway.
Dr. Izobo, who currently serves as the Deputy Provost (Administration) of the Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHEALTH) , defended her thesis on Monday, April 27, 2026, marking a major milestone in a career defined by dedication, professionalism, and academic excellence.
An alumna of the School of Medical Laboratory Science, University College Hospital Ibadan, Dr. Izobo is also a Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Medical Laboratory Science, a recognition that underscores her outstanding contributions to the advancement of medical laboratory science practice and education in the region.
She has steadily risen through the ranks in service and leadership. Beginning her career as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) under the Lagos State Health Service Commission, she distinguished herself through competence, discipline, and commitment, earning appointments into several strategic leadership positions.
Her professional journey saw her emerge as Dean of the School of Medical Laboratory Technicians before later served as Acting Provost and subsequently Deputy Provost of the College.
She once served as member of the LASCOHEALTH governing council from 2012 to 2015
Over the years, she has remained a respected voice in medical laboratory education and administration, contributing immensely to manpower development and healthcare training in Lagos State.
